Counselor-in-Training (CIT)

Counselor in Training (Entering 8th grade – 14 years old)

The CIT program is a great introduction to what it takes to be a Marinwood camp counselor!

CITs will work alongside camp staff and learn the day-to-day operations of camp and what it takes to be employed at Marinwood. The program will develop your child’s leadership skills through training, observation and practice. CITs will be assigned to a specific camp each week and will meet with a camp supervisor each week to go over counselor skills, everything from attention grabbers to dealing with difficult campers to first aid. Each week will also feature a workshop on different important topics like interviewing or filling out work applications. CITs will also have a chance to play and compete against the Guards in Training!

CITS are expected to participate in and assist with camp activities, help supervise campers at all times, work under the supervision of the Camp Director and help provide a fun, positive and safe experience for campers. CITs should also bring a swimsuit and towel to camp every day to enjoy pool time with the campers.

Marinwood’s goal for our CITS is to make friends, learn leadership skills, and enjoy a summer with Marinwood! When it comes time to apply as a camp counselor, our CITs definitely have a leg up on other applicants.

CIT Hours: Mondays at 8:40am, Tuesday-Friday 8:50am (unless otherwise assigned)

Program Fees: $118 per session (Session 4: $98)

Once you have submitted this application, please plan on attending the mandatory CIT interview and training.
